CheBiTo guidelines (16.12.2024)
Introduction
Chebito is a competition for high school students created as a part of the Honours Programme of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Utrecht University. We aim to educate and raise the interest of students in the topics of chemistry, biology and pharmacology.
The competition consists of 5 rounds of problems, which will be openly published at the start of the corresponding round. For every problem set you have 3 weeks to send it in. Publishing dates and deadlines for each round will be announced a week before beginning of the round.
All participants will be graded for the first 4 rounds, but only top 10 participants will be graded in round 5.
This competition likely will have prizes to top participants, but those are yet to be discussed with our university board.
Signing up
Please fill in the sign up form that can be found on the website (). The country and grade are not mandatory to be filled in, however we would like to make a fun statistic so we would appreciate it if you provide us with the data. It is not mandatory to use your actual name, however if you win a diploma we will ask for your actual name (I mean if you want your nickname on the diploma we are fine with it).
Solving problems
Please do not plagiarise others' work and do not use generative AI. Also please do not ask for help from other people, you have the whole internet, we believe you can figure it out)
We will do a plagiarism check, but as we can not do a reliable AI or outside help check, please know that cheaters are stinky and have no friends. If your response is obviously copied from other people or from generative AI bot, you will be made fun of and will receive a stinky cheater “booo” diploma.
Referencing
We recommend using zotero for references. BTW wikipedia is not a good source, sadly. To find sources use well known search engines such as pubmed or google scholar. For access to some papers you can ask Alexandra Elbakyan.
Submitting problems
Submit all of the problems from one round in one document, pdf or word. Start every question on a new page. Please do not send us separate documents for every question (it would be messy and I don’t have that much time). Format the document as the name of the problem on the head of the page and use the letters to refer to the sub question. If you are not sure what I just described see the example available on the website.
